Not sure if there is a connection but my great-great-grandmother's maiden name is believed to be Elizabeth Banfield (also called Liza or Eliza). Census records indicate she was born in Kentucky, though. Elizabeth married a Richard Williamson and gave birth to my great-grandmother (Mary Ethel Williamson) in 1882 in Nelsonville, Ohio (Athens County). According to family legend, which I have not been able to confirm, Richard Williamson was killed in a duel, and Elizabeth fled in shame and quickly remarried. I have an obituary for Mary Ethel indicating she was born to Elizabeth Banfield and Richard Williamson.
