I've come to the same conclusion about Thomas 1 and John 1. In Johns will he mentions his brother Thomas. I also have a copy of Thomas's will. You lost me on John, George and Thomas 3 b. 1751-1760. I know Thomas 1 mentions a son named John who is still a minor. Having the knowledge based on census reports that Thomas (married to Prudence) was born between 1765 and 1775 I find it doubtful that this Thomas is the one in Jefferson in 1781. At the most he would be 16 yrs. old. Also it would seem to make sense that if there are two separate Thomas's in KY, one mentioned in 1781 and one married to Prudence in 1796 then more then likely it would be father and son. At least that is how my logic was working. I wasn't aware of another Thomas 3 b.1751-1760. It's all guesswork for me at this point. I'd be interested in what you have on the NC and SC Banfields/Benfields. I was hoping maybe Ruths name would pop up in that area to confirm which Thomas was there.
