Bandimere/Bandemer family name history
My Great-great-grandfather and his 3 brothers (Charles, Albert, August and William) changed the spelling of the name around the turn of the century.I am very curious about the origin of the name in Germany. The German name dictionary says that the origin is slovic, but I have a relative the said that it is French and that there is a place in France called Ban de Mere near Cherbourg.I have not been able to make the French connection. He also said that they were Hugenots.Their fathers name was Johann. He was born in Neu Poleshkin, Pomerainia in 1804.I have not been able to trace the family back past his father, Christian.I am not on e-mail.
