Asa Bancroft, son of Abel Bancroft and Sarah Lawrence, married Mercy Tyler, daughter of Joshua Tyler and Ismenia Kimball, in Groton, MAss 8 June 1806. According to a Tyler family history by Brigham and Tyler, "they moved to Canada and had 12 children." I am assuming that this couple is the Asa and Mercy Bancroft who settled in West Hawkesbury Twp., Prescott Co., Ontario (then Upper Canada) and that they are the parents of my Mary Bancroft (1807 - 1885) who married Alonzo Bangs in Upper Canada in 1825. Asa and Mercy's other choildren are:

Mercy (1811 - 1835),
Asa (1814 - 1870),
Cecilia (1816 - 1858),
Thomas (1820 - 1904)
Elisa (1822 - 1909)
