Hi Juanita - I have just completed my line of Bancroft genealogy starting with William b. abt. 1453 in Chellaston, Derbyshire continuing to John & Jane immigrating in 1632 on the ship James, son Thomas b. 1622 following is Thomas, Samuel b. 1693. Samuel b. 1715, Samuel b. 1736 m. Sarah Holt 1758, Wiliam, Cyrus, Ambrose, Irving, John, John (me), Robert & Thomas. As you see I have Deacon Samuel (Jr.) b. 12 July 1736 in Reading, d. 19 Aug 1812 in Reading. My sources are Family Records of Deacon Samuel 1717-1782 Reading Ma. printed from original by FD Andrews 1922. My grandfather Irving typed from an original "son Samuel born July 12,1736" According to family records from Anne Evans Bancroft, Irvings sister; possibly via a John M. Bancroft, Samuel was a tory went to Seckville, Yarmouth N.S. after the battle of Lexington(April 19, 1775), became a judge and a preacher either there or in Annapolis NS. He went from Annapolis to Yarmouth in about 1780. He also fought in the French and Indian war. I found no strong evidence of his death in either NS or Reading. I will be happy to send you what ever I have. Some of it gets down to the most logical choice!! Bill (John) Bancroft - bbancroft@bendbroadband.com
