I'm looking for information further ancestry information on Catherine Bancroft (1853-1926) to George Bancroft and Mary Matsinger.
It's been passed down through the generations that George is the famous historian but all of the information I can find on that George Bancroft doesn't name Mary or Catherine as known relatives. I also have conflicting information that George may have been born in England which would mean the 2 George's are not the same.
Catherine Bancroft married William Chapin (1843-1915) and settled down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My great great grandmother, Florence I. Chapin, is the 5th child to Catherine and William.
Any help is appreciated.
