The data below are from page 41 of Stiles's history of Windsor, Connecticut (already cited).
       A Thomas Bancroft (b. 1659) was an early settler in Cape May, N.J., having settled there before 1700. This Thomas was a brother to my great-6 grandfather Samuel Bancroft (b. 1667). A discussion of early Cape May is in Beasley's "Early History of Cape May, N.J."
       Thomas and Samuel came originally from Connecticut. Their father was Thomas Bancroft (b. 1622 in England). This line of the Bancroft family came originally from Derbyshire, England.
