Hal,
The flaws in the TAG (at least from my point of view they are flaws) are significant. First, the confusion of our Lieutenant Thomas Bancroft with the son of his half brother John seems never to go away. John Bancroft came to MA about six years earlier than did our Thomas. John came with his wife Jane and two sons - - Thomas and John. Immigrant John died in the late 1630's and his wife Jane married a man by the name of Thomas Barber who, when Conn opened to settlement, took his wife and stepchildren to Windsor (about 1640). I refer you to the genealogical study on the ancsetors of Charles Bancroft of Montreal. He takes the Swarkston/Challeston (Derbyshire) Bancrofts back to William Bancroft who was born abt 1500 at Challeston.
