I have a book compiled by a relative titled "Ancestors and Descendants of the De Groot Family, Morris County, New Jersey, 1747-1973." It begins with Peter DeGroot, Jr. (b. 9/15/1766 in Staten Island d. 5/23/1837 in Mendham, NJ) m. Anna Elizabeth Bancker (b. 8/23/1772 d. 10/8/1844) the daughter of Adrian Bancker (b. 7/25/1724) and Anne Boelen m. 11/7/1753.
I am looking for information on the Bancker and Boelen branches. I have a hunch, but no proof, that my Adrian Bancker is the son of Christoffel Bancker, son of Evert Bancker, son of Gerrit Bancker and Elizabeth Van Epps.
My grandmother also used to talk about a De Peyster ancestor having been the mayor of New York. I have found some unconfirmed info on Anne Boelen that might support this. I have found an Anna Boelen (m. Adrian Bancker), daughter of Abraham Boelen and Elizabeth de Peyster, daughter of Johannes de Peyster (mayor of NY) and Anna Bancker, daughter of Gerrit Bancker and Elizabeth Van Epps.
If this is all true, then I think Adrian Bancker and Anne Boelen were second cousins and the parents of my ancestor Anna Elizabeth Bancker DeGroot.
Does anyone have any information that might confirm that my Adrian Bancker and Anne/a Boelen are descended from Gerrit Bancker? If we can prove it, I would be happy to share the information I have on their descendants.
