Looking for connections to a Balzer family living in Sauk/Dane County, Wisconsin.

My great grandfather was Louis Balzer -said to be born July 1, 1843 in Koln, Germany - I suspect it may have been Wisconsin. While living in Sauk County, Honey Creek, Wisconsin
he married Gertrude Braubender. I have confirmation of him living in Sauk County from 1865 till 1870 when he moved to Mankato, MN and remarried after his first wife Gertrude died at a young age.His 2nd wife was Mary Fronot Klingil and together they had several children. Louis died in 1914 in Mankato.
I have located a John Balzer b.1824 living in Sauk County via 1900 census (then 76) with a son William Balzer b. 1859 and a daughter Mary E. Balzer b. 1857 - I suspect this may have been his father and brother and sister but that isn't confirmed. Any help,in this hunt would be appreciated. It would appear John came direct from Germany to Wisconsin, perhaps with a wife who died in Wisconsin prior to 1900 census.
