Have just begun search for ancestory of Peter Hansen Petersen Balzersen. Born in Denmark, Dec. 15, 1864, was in Reinbeck, Iowa in 1889-1892, in Denver, Co 1892-moved to Woodland,Michigan in 1903, to Texas in 1909, to Port Arthur, TX in 1916. Married Caroline Geiger (Carrie) in 1893, Denver, CO. Was a member of the Cosmopolitian Masonic Lodge #872, Port Arthur, TX. Was a commander of Knights Templer. Died in 1945, Port Arthur, TX. Some of family said he was an orphan, raised by the Petersens in Denmark, came to USA and took back his real name-Balzersen. Cannot find any info on his life prior to 1888 in Reinbeck, Iowa. No one in family knew of the Iowa connection until I found it on his petition to the Masonic Lodge. A musician in Denmark wrote me that Balzersen is the son of Balzer and that there are some Balzersens in Denmark, but not a "normal" Danish name. Some family members say her was from Shelvig Holsten (sp?) area in Denmark, which is now in Germany. Any help appreciated.
