My grandmother was Sadie Marie Baltzell. She was a daughter of Marcus(Marquis) Baltzell and Mary Jane Chaney. She and her siblings were born in or near Gilmore, Ohio, in Tuscarawas County. Marcus' parents also lived in Gilmore in the 1870's and 80's. An uncle or grandfather also lived there. Their names were George and Jacob Baltzell. Marcus was a blacksmith and it seemed to be the family trade. I have yet to find where they came from or exactly when they arrived in Tuscarawas County. County census records show a Nathaniel Baltzell as early as 1840 I believe. I hope this may be of some help and any additional information would be appreciated. I also live in Tuscarawas County, if there is any local research I may be able to help with.
