This is a very well researched family too complex to deal with briefly. I suggest you contact me on jim.balmer@Virgin.net. Apart from my own researches, many others have contributed and I am in regular contact with the leading authority on this branch, who does not deal with bulletin boards.
The Taylor connection is particularly difficult, with Margaret Taylor being a person with a history not fully understood who regularly changed her birthplace. She had at least two illegitimate children before marrying Joseph Balmer.
Your note that Robert Taylor Balmer moved to London is interesting. Warcop parish registers say he was baptised 30 Jun 1834 and buried 8 Feb 1837. Was there another?
