Ballyobegan-McShane, Dorrian, Sheenan, Quinn

Believe Ballyobegan is just north of Ballywalter. Anyone ever hear of the McShane, Dorrian, Sheenan, Quinn family in the Inshargy Rd area? How about the Close family?

My gggrandfather, Hugh McShane, married a Mary Close and resided in Ballyobegan. The two of them had children dating from about 1850-1870. One of their daughters children: Hugh Dorrian b. 1895; believe a Mary Dorrian b. 1896-7 and a Margaret Dorrian b. 1900.

Insofar as I can ascertain, one of them married a William Dorrian b. 1861 [1863?], a Catherine McShane, somewhere in the late 1880s. William apparently died about 1902 and Catherine reportedly moved after that time to Kircubbin. Catherine McShane Dorrian married a Michael Sheenan in Newtonards in 1907 and they produced a child named Anne Sheenan in 1907 who lived until around 1992, + or - ,a few years.

Looking for anyone who may have a relationship or knowledge of the McShane, Dorrian or Sheenan people who were around between the period of 1800 - today. Email me at WASeely@aol.com or if an address is required to communicate ask someone to email and advise of your address/email.

Co Down: I felt totally at ease there, may have been my home without immigration. I've taken three trips there since 1996 and would highly recommend a visit to anyone interested in life as it was a few generations ago.

Bill
