I am researching my family history. I am particularly interested in an entry in the 1851 england census, this lists a william ahern as being born around 1829. It gives his place of birth as ballywalth, cork, ireland. Because my geographical knowledge of ireland is limited I initially entered ballywalth in the search engine, this brought no results but suggested ballywater, so here I am. I am investigating the probability of him being my gg gf. The 1861 england census lists a william ahern as being married to an elizabeth ahern, catherine ahern d, ellen ahern d, mary ahern d, william ahern s. They are listed as living in chiswick middlesex london. My late father who was baptised david john hearne in 1926 seems linked through the generations from the william ahern listed in the 1861 census. I will have to attempt to get a copy of the marriage certificate of william and elizabeth ahern so I can narrow william's place of birth down further. My question is does anyone have any information about the ahern or ahearn family in ballywalter? Thankyou for reading and thanks in advance for any feedback. Regards, William Hearne.
