We get no hints from our communicated papers concerning the occupation, life-career, or distinctive characteristics of this William Ballou or of his wives. But we infer from the places of his residence -- Belchertown, Springfield, Ware, etc., that he was a man of enterprise, and probably some kind of trader or mechanic. Waiving such considerations, we find that he d. prob. in Ware, Mass., Nov. 6, 1873, a. almost 73 yrs. Mrs. Angelina, his 2d wife, d. Mar. 30, 1876, a. 60 yrs. 11 mos. and 5 ds.

Thomas Howard Ballou8 is a respectable farmer of Belchertown, Mass., with a worthy and fruitful wife. As may be seen above, they have faithfully performed their duty in multiplying the Ballous. Meantime he has been a patriotic soldier of his country in her time of need. He went to the bloody war in Co. H., 46th Regt. Mass. Vols. Enlisting Sept. 1, 1862, he passed into camp at Springfield, and in due course of transportation arrived in Newbern, N. C. He fought in the battles of Newbern, Goldsboro', Kingston, Sandy Hook, Antietam, &c., and survived them all to share in the general triumph of a restored Union. He takes a laudable interest in our Genealogy, and we hope he and his family will enjoy it.
