Looking for info about Edward Ballenger (also spelled Ballinger at times). Born abt. 1820/1821 in South Carolina. Came to Rusk County, Texas around 1850 with his brother Thomas Ballenger and brother-in-law Benjamin F. Montgomery. His wife was Esther (Katherine or Catherine)Montgomery. Don't know when they died or where they were buried. Only can guess they might have been buried at New Prospect Cemetery in Rusk County. Thomas Ballenger and B.F. Montgomery founded the New Prospect Church. Edward served as 1st Lt. of Company I, "Sabine Grays", 7th Texas Infantry Regiment for about a year. Resigned in 1862. Don't have much information on him. The last census I have found him on was the 1880 in Rusk County.
