Judy, I don't know a great deal yet about the Elbert Co. Ballengers. I believe my line is connected to them, but haven't yet found conclusive evidence. My last known ancestor is Allen D. (c1810 - 1870s), and from census entries my best guess has been that he was the son of William b. 1780. Is my guess right or wrong? I would be very interested to see the data you have for William's families. Also, where did you get your info? I haven't had the chance yet to look for records, but it seems like a lot of it got burned. I'm very interested to hear where you're finding data. I'm also interested in what you know about Joseph. I've been convinced for years that my line is connected to him, because my ancestor Chalmers Tarplin Bellenger (Allen's son) lived near Joseph and his son Daniel. Also, as I said, Chalmers and Daniel married sisters. That's why I was so intrigued when I saw the first posting on this thread, saying that Joseph T.'s middle name was Tarpley. The similarity to Tarplin, combined with the proximity of the families, certainly hints that they were relatives. Mainly what I know about Joseph is his census records in De Kalb Co. GA and Calhoun Co. MS. Also, I've seen his son Daniel's grave in Yell Co. AR (and have pictures). I look forward to hearing from you! Regards, Bruce Notify Administrator about this message?
