Yeah, a lot more. Here it is:
PIONEER WOMAN RESIDENT DIES HERE THURSDAY
Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Ballengee, 97, one of the county's true pioneer residents, died Thursday evening at 7:20 o'clock at her home in Bellepoint due to complications. She suffered a fall on January 18.
Mrs. Ballengee, who was widely known and highly respected, was born September 17, 1858 in Forest Hill district that was then a part of Monroe County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late William A. and Elizabeth Kincaid Turner.
Since coming to Hinton in 1891, Mrs. Ballengee had lived in the same house which is one of Bellepoint's earliest landmarks. At that time the greater part of Bellepoint was included in the Ballengee farm.
She was the widow of the late Robert H. B. Ballengee who died on March 31, 1939. He was a great grandson of Summers county's first settler. She was married on October30, 1890.
Mrs, Ballengee remained active and alert until a short time before her death and she could vividly recall incidents in the Civil War and the hardships her family endured while her father was away fighting.
She also recalled how when she was rearing her family, she wove the cloth for their clothing and made them by hand.
"Aunt Jane," as she was called by many, taught Sunday school in a small Bellepoint church for many years, as she was deeply religious. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the home with Rev. Clyde Bussard officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park.
Survivors include three sons, Harvey Ballengee of Hinton, George Ballengee* of Richmond, Va. and Henry Ballengee, Lewisburg; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The body will be removed to the home Saturday morning at eleven o'clock from the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors.
