Ballard Family Genealogy Forum

I think it's early days to know all the answers for your DNA results. It's all dependings other DNA submissions yet to come.
In our own family DNA, we are thrilled with the results. We didn't obtain all answers yet but it cleared up many mysteries. I'm finding more matches every couple of months. That will happen with the Ballard DNA too if we are able to get people submit their DNA. We've put $900 into various DNA testing and don't feel it was a waste of money. It has it's limitations and has to be matched with good old fashioned research.
I certainly don't pretend to have all the answers. I do know that people raised children that were orphans. It was common for women to die in child birth. The father's often either remarried or farmed the kids out. I've found a lot of families that the husband died and the children were farmed out.
Genealogy is one subject that requires a lot of patience. You can work on it your entire lifetime and not find all the documentation. I enjoy the search but like I said it requires patience. Some of it may come quickly but some people lived quiet lives and didn't leave a lot of legal documents for us to find.
