There seems to be problems with the Ballard’s DNA tests. Results are given at:

There are four individuals who claim ancestors that would have them as descendants of Thomas Ballard and Ann(e) Thomas, numbers B5, B24, B41 and B43. None of these have even close to similar DNA results.

Either some of the conventional genealogies err, there were unknown adoptions or one or more of the ladies had quite a few affairs!
