Does anyone have any info on my gggrandfather Theophilus Ballard? I've been up against a blank wall for years now in trying to find some likely parents for him. Family lore is that he had three siblings: Thomas, John, and an unknown third sibling; perhaps a girl. Family lore is he was orphaned when young. Theophilus moved first to Lowndes Co. AL; then to Conecuh Co., AL in the late 1850s. Married Catherine (Burt?), then Lucinda (Burt?), then Sara Ann Page. He was a wealthy plantation owner in Lowndes Co. & Conecuh Co., which raises the question as to how he acquired his wealth. Grew the farm? Marriage? Other?
Info or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
