Honaker, VA – Kenneth Frank Ball, 83, of the Big A Mountain section, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009, at his home with his family. Born February 11, 1926, in Honaker, VA, he was a son of the late Elden and Etta Addison Ball. A lifelong resident of Honaker, he was a member and Sunday school teacher at Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church on Big A Mountain. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was formerly employed as a sanitation officer in Russell Co VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maudie Ellen Peck; one brother, Clyde Ball; two sisters, Mildred Smith and Virginia Barnhart; and stepson, Larry Peck. Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Sue Wilson and husband Lloyd of Honaker, VA, Carol Webb and husband Chuck of IND, and Deborah Ball of Powhatan, VA; three sons, Richard Ball, David Ball and wife Kay and Woodrow Ball, all of Honaker, VA; two stepchildren, Jimmy Peck and wife Erica of Chester, and Phyllis Peck Szczepaniak and husband Tom of Warner Robins, GA; two sisters, Helen Ball of NY, and Erma Kossuth of NJ; five grandchildren, Jason Wilson, Jessee Horton, Adam Horton, Kristi Williams and Brandon Williams; great-grandchildren, Jett Wilson and Ellie Horton; stepgrandchildren, Shelia Hutchens, Sharon Taylor, Brenda Peck, Jimmy Peck, Nelson Peck, Johnny Peck, Carlos Peck, Paul Szczepaniak, Vicki Baldwin, Mitchell Baldwin and Michael Baldwin; several great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sissy and Home Health and Hospice. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2009, where an evening service will be conducted at 7. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 24, 2009, in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, VA, with the Rev. Virgil Musick and the Rev. Claude Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, VA. Military graveside honors will be conducted by VFW Post 9864 of Lebanon. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
