They appear in the 1930, 1920 and 1910 censuses living in Bessemer. The surname is spelled Stephanic, Stepanich and Stephanic (misindexed as Stephanie) respectively. Susan was born ca 1877 in each of the censuses. Their daughter Susan was born ca 1897. Both Susans immigrated in 1903. Paul immigrated in 1901. They were Slovak and born in Czechoslovakia and married around 1897.

When the Kronprinz Wilhelm landed in New York on May 6, 1903 it included passengers Belint (or something like it) Stefanick 28 and Zsuzsanna 4 1/2. They were Slovak and from Hungary (which Slovakia was part of at the time). The passage was paid for by husband and father Paul of Cleveland, OH.

Your best bet would be to get the death certificates of both Susans. Both should the elder Susan's maiden name and the elder Susan's DC should have her parents' names. Their obituaries could be helpful too. The marriage records, death certificates and obituaries of the elder Susan's children should help to establish her maiden name.
