Glad to meet you Andrea. Yes, we had traced Mary Ellen Balfe back therough her arrival aged 15 per "William & Mary" Nov 21 1849 to her dead parents Robert & Alice of Dunshaughland, Meath, Ire. We have not yet found further evidence of her 1849 Relatives in the Colony. uncles John & Bryan REILLY of Ten Mile Bush, or "Ten Mile, Brisbane". Her mention in Barefoot & Pregnant is a bit clearer than on SR. NSW 4/1915 Reel 2460.
My younger brother William Thomas (Bill), our dead sister Betty Joan & I with 7 cousins of our generation are descended through Alexander Charles, Clarice May & John Leslie Emanuel, their father William John, a younger bro of Hector J & the 7th child b.18 Aug 1870 of Lewis & Mary Ellen. Warwick is descended from your Hector J. - We have traced Lewis back to his birth in NSW 1831 to Barnet EMANUEL & his wife Mary JONES aka Jane, Julia, Eva & Julia Julien. Barnet arrived 1822 per Asia 2 (Life) & Mary in 1825 aged 16 per Grenada 3, 7 yrs. They married Parramatta 1826 & 1st son David was born 1828 & shows in the 1828 Census at 9mths in the Female Factory, P'ta. - We are in touch with some of David's descendants also. I have a provisional CD holding info for all our related families but the contents with jpgs docs etc are far too long for email. If you would like to join in, tell me at hbrown@froggy.com.au.
I have copies of the documents which prove Frederick Louis Immanuel to be Lewis Emanuel, those which trace his mother's aliases & her second marriage 1844 to Folk BARNETT after Barnet EMANUEL died in 1843 at Bathurst & of the trials at the Middlesex Gaol Delivery (Old Bailey) at which Barnet & Mary were convicted. We have not yet been able to find when or where Mary/Julia/Eva or Folk BARNETT died.
If you know light would flash. Your own husband's initial/locality would be a glimmer.
Cheers from North Epping, now re-greening after the bush fire. Harry
