I'm looking for the family and ancestors of great great grandmother Catherine Balfe/Balph of Carnew ,County Wicklow whose family are thought to have been farmers.
In Ireland ,about 1882 ,she married Quartermaster John Melville Kirkland (born 1862 Stirling, Scotland) their first daughter Kathleen was born in Dublin Barracks and second daughter Margaret in Belfast Barracks.Because Kirkland was a soldier the family moved around a lot.
According to the family Catherine died aged 85 in 1935.
