Steve
Actually, this is where it get's messy! My Daniel, born 1841, is actually the cousin of the Daniel who married Ann CARLTON!
You see, my Daniel's father John (who married Susannah NEWING) was the son of Thomas BALDOCK (m. Ann DAWKINS). Thomas had a son called Daniel (b.~1806), who also had a son called Daniel (b~1843). It was the latter Daniel to which you refer marrying Ann! I can see how people get easily misled!
I would add that I get all this information from http://fadedgenes.co.uk, but I believe the source to be reliable. I will however, be endeavouring to verify them myself.
The names Daniel, Joseph, John are all rather prominent in my BALDOCK family - and it would appear in others as well!

Regards
Steve.
