I am interested to contact any Baldocks who may be related to this family. This Baldock tale starts with William, born abt. 1750. At Eastwell in June of 1779, William married Elizabeth Elderage. Their son James was baptised at Eastwell 18th March 1787. Described as a woodman, he married Phoebe Meppem at Eastwell 27th April 1808. Their son John Meppem Baldock was born at "Boughton" (possibly Boughton Alaph), abt. 1809. Abt. 1835, John Meppem married Eliza Richards of Blean, at Blean. Eliza was born at Seasalter on 26 October 1817, the daughter of John Richards, a dredger and blacksmith and his wife Ann, nee Coleman. John Meppem & Eliza moved to Challock and later Wye. Their 5 daughters were born at those places.
John & Eliza emigrated to Australia on the "Una", arriving in Sydney 22nd November 1849. They settled as tenant farmers at "Dunmore" in the Hunter Valley.
