Balch DNA Project News

I'm absolutely THRILLED to announce that Gene Balch, avid researcher of the Maryland Balch line, has joined the Balch project at Family Tree DNA and ordered a kit.

His DNA will be key to either proving or disproving, hopefully with certainty, whether the Maryland Balches tie into the existing English/Tennessee Balch lines who currently match DNA-wise. It's long been suspected that the two Tennessee Balch branches tested descend from the Maryland Balch branches who were in Tennessee, but the one Maryland Balch descendant previously tested, does not match the Tennessee Balches. Suspiciously, however, he does match a Harris line quite well. It's possible there was an "oops" somewhere in his line. Hopefully Gene's DNA will match one or the other lines, and solve that mystery.

I'm working on getting more information on the project on the worldfamilies.net site, and for now have placed lineages of the matching England/Tennessee Balch lines here:

The results table can be seen at the following link:

The Balch line from Massachusetts remains unrepresented in the project.

If anyone else is interested in joining, please contact me. Things are getting very exciting now!
