Thanks for your note. Yes, I'm hoping something will surface on Thomas and his family. Perhaps with more of us looking for it...... !
On Balch Springs. Yes, I read where the historian for Balch Springs had stated that the town was named for the two Balch brothers (John and Hezekiah Benjamin -- sons of Elijah Whitfield Balch and Mary (Molly) Green) who fought with Sam Houston in the Texas war of Independence. However, I disagree strongly with this and I will send you the reasons why if you will email me at my gbalch@cox-internet.com address. I have sent this same info off to the library there in Balch Springs, but did not receive a reply from their historian.
