John Balch is the root of this genealogy, and Galusha goes into a great deal of detail on the earliest family members, as well as presenting some theory regarding the "pre-America" Balches. To the best of my knowledge, you can purchase a copy through NEHGS (www.nehgs.org) or through for about $90. I was able to borrow it either through inter-library loan or NEHGS (can't remember). I will check on your line and get back to you. I left it at work.
