Ebeneezer Balch line of Wethersfield/Hartford CT area 1600s-1700s. North to Lake Champlain,ClintonCo,NY where a 3rd generation Ebeneezer Balch engaged in the lumber trade across the Canadian border. One of this Ebeneezer's sons, Horatio James Balch b.1806,m.Sophronia Allard in Clinton Co,NY then a few years later moved west to OH, then to southern IN, where in 1846,Horatio died leaving widow Sophronia with a large family of small children. She remarried to widower Wm.Sutterfield in Gibson Co by 1847.Most of his children were grown and gone, but a younger son Isaac Sutterfield remained and he and Sophronia's oldest daughter Elizabeth 'Betsy'Selina Balch were married in Gibson Co,IN in 1849. This couple moved across the Wabash River into southern IL,settling in Decker Twp,Richland Co,IL where they raised a family of 13 children and lived in Decker Twp until Isaac's death.I am interested in both OH,IN,IL Balch lines as well as the early New England line of Balch and all the allied lines their which include: BELDEN,KING,BIRCHARD and many other very early NE families.
