Hi Phillip,
Saw your note regarding Frederick Homer Balch, author, of Washington State.
Frederick Homer Balch descends from the Maryland Balch line, John Balch & Catharine Clellan... 1658 settlers at Deer Creek, Lord Baltimore's Maryland Colony. His lineage is through thow pioneers who came from Maryland down to NC, to TN, to IL, then out to Washington, tracing to James Balch, one of two brothers (John & James) of Maryland (the first known split in the family.
BTW, our John of Maryland is said to be a cousin to the John Balch who settled in Massachusetts in 1623 (largest of the Balch families).
I see you also mention several other members from our Maryland line, like George Beall Balch, Admiral and commander of the Naval Academy at Annapolis, having two ships named for him.
Please see my (outdated) web site at www.geocities.com/heartland/prairie/5162
The site has only 9,000 names, but I now have over 16,000 in the current database. I plan to update the site soon.
Gene
