My great grandparents emigrated from Norway, and we think the name changed upon arrival somehow from Bakken, or Baaken? to Bacon, which is my surname.

Cornelius Bacon
Born:        22 Jan 1854
Snertingdal, Norway

I've tried to find the ship's passenger list, but evidently his crossing was one of the ones not available.

This version of the Bacon/Bakkens landed in Minnesota and the Dakotas, and my family branch eventually moved into Saskatchewan and Alberta.

I am posting to the alternate spellings, to see if I can get back to Norway and Snertingdal and other valleys there.

Pat Bacon Smith,
