Dear Dave,
All three surnames are of Croatian origin.Some 400 years ago Croatian refugees, running away from the Turks came over here, on the now Slovak territory.There are still several villages with almost pure Croatian population.Some even still speak their language.These villages are not very far from the Sastin area, just over the White Carpathian hills.I think, this is the way how the surname Bakic came to the Sastin area.The records are not old enough to prove that ,thou. I already located several Matkovic persons in the same general area.
Are these three surnames supposed to be somehow connected? I will gladly help you.
