Hi Terri

Yes the BAKEWELLs were from Staffordshire in the 1700s. Your Samuel married Anne Maria BEAN on 30 June 1796 at St Chad's Church, Shrewsburty, Shropshire. I don't have a date when he went to te US but it would have been after 1800 when theior son Theron wwas baptised at Lichfield in Staffordshire.

The 1158 bit comes from a document held in the Cottonian Library which is part of the British Museum. Some BAKEWELL ancestors include Sir John who was an Alderman on the City of London between 286 and 1293, representing the Cripplegate Ward. He was crushed to death at the coronation of Edward II on 20 February 1308.

You may care to give me your postal address off list so that I can send you some more details.
