Hi,
This Wendell Baker is not my line. But found this old letter going to my grandfather Baker's brother. Evidently, my Bakers were trying to see if a Jacob Baker in this line was related. (He wasn't). However, there is so much info in this letter, I hope somebody related to this Wendell Baker line can use!

Dear J. M Baker,
In answer to your inquiry of Feb 16, all I can give you is the family record of Wendell Baker, son of Jacob Baker, the Fisherman. Follows:

Wendell Baker was born April 2, 1730. He came to Philadelphia on Sept 26th 1748. His family is as follows: John born on Jan 5, 1751;(Have no farther records on him or his descendents.) Elizabeth, born Jan 26, 1757, married David Storms and founded Stormstown, Centre Co, Pa. We traced the last descendant of this family to Washington and then lost trace of him; Margaret, born Mar 27, 1759 Sarah born Dec 25th 1760, died Mar 16, 1805; Christine, born May 4th 1767, died April 27, 1796; Anna, Mar 29, 1763, died April 22, 1794, Esther, born Jan 15, 1770 (no farther record) >(twins) Jacob, born Jan 15, 1770 died April 19, 1827. Married Catherine Rockey, who was born Jan 11, 1782 and died May 5, 1857? This is the family from which my wife descended.
The last named Jacob Baker was the father of the following:
Elizabeth-b June 25, 1804, Samuel - b Oct 19, 1805, John, b Oct 2, 1808, (Polly)Mary- Feb 8, 1812, Jacob - Dec 3, 1813, Henry-July 30, 1817. Catherine-Nov 12, 1820, William Dec 10, 1822.
If I can be of service to you to any greater estend please send stamped, self-addressed envelope.
Very truly yours,

Milton E. Best

We would be please to have farther records from you if they apply in this case of lineage. (These records as far as furnished are authentic as we have access to Wendell Baker's old Bible records, and a brother-in-law resides on part of the old Wendell Baker farm in Union Co, Pa, where Wendell and his family are buried in the old private cemetery, which is well cared for.)
