Hello, Martha, Charles Basil Baize is my G-G-Grandfather, through his son, Jacob, his son Eddie, his son (my father) Wayne, then me. As far back as anyone seems to be able to find is John and Nancy, although I do have Nancy's parents, Matthias Schultz and Didamah Ogden. There is also an old family story about John and Nancy.
The Story goes that Matthias found John wandering on his farm when John was about 4 years old, and John's German accent was so thick that the only thing Matthias could understand was his name, and that his parents were killed by indians.
When John grew up, he wanted to court Nancy, of which Matthias apparently did not approve. So, when Nancy came up missing, Matthias told John that if he could find her, he could marry her. John wasted no time going out to the barn where he had hidden her away, and bringing her in.
