I'm a descendant of John Smith Baisden. From his Son Solomon who married Mary Ann Chafin the two of them had a son named William born about 1832. William married Mary Ann (Mead) White. Mary Ann was born about 1833. We don't know for sure but we think that William died during the Civil War. William and Mary Ann had three sons and two daughters. One of those sons was John Henry Baisden is my grandfather. John Henry was married at least twice. His last wife was Martha (Farley)Chafin. That marriage took place on 24 December 1893, in Logan West Virginia. Martha was a widow with five children. John Henry and Martha had five children all boys including a set of identical twins. The youngest of these five boys born on 24 September 1900 is my father, Harrison Baisden. John Henry Baisden died on 24 December 1923. Martha Baisden died on 21 October 1947. John Henry, Martha, and all of their children are buried on the Farley family cemetery on Elk Creek, near Delbarton in Mingo County West Virginia. If you have additonal information on our family would love to hear from you.
Brenda Nolan
