When you say "evidence," of course, you put the conversation into an entirely different realm. As you well know, and you are THE authority when it comes to the Abbeville Bairds, there is no evidence of John Baird's birth date, only family tradition and educated guess. With regard to Simon's wives and children: I list Jane, John, and Andrew as the children of his first wife, name unknown; and I show James, Elizabeth, Simon, David, Oregon, Drucilla, and Sarah, as the children of "Elizabeth P. Baird"(m. Dec. 29, 1831, in Greene Co., Alabama), his second wife. The children of Elizabeth P. Baird are generally enumerated in Simon's will, as you know.Elsewhere you identify Simon's second wife as Elizabeth Menasco Hugues Baird, but the typescript copy of the will in my possession lists "Elizabeth P. Baird" as the second wife and the mother of seven children. From some source, I also have reference to a third wife named Elizabeth P. Calahan.Since Simon's 1864 will speaks of "my beloved wife, Elizabeth P. Baird," presumably his current wife, but then in a codicil references his "second wife" with whom he associates children but does not identify by name, could Elizabeth Menasco be the mother of the children, Simon's second wife, and Elizabeth P. (Calahan) Baird be a third wife with whom he was living in 1864.If not, who was Elizabeth P. Calahan?
