I have done a lot of research on the Bainbridges descended from John Bainbridge and Sarah Clows, namely their two sons, John A. Bainbridge, b. 1692, and Edmund Bainbridge, b. 1693.
Nowhere in my research have I seen a seen a Bainbridge daughter with the name “Sara” - there’s always and “h” at the end in the women I’ve seen.I also have not come across a Sara or Sarah born in 1809.And of all the Bainbridge girls I’ve researched, there was only one born in Philadelphia, PA, and that was Sarah Bainbridge, b. 4-7-1782, who married Lott Phillips in 1802.Her father was William Bainbridge, b. 7-11-1740.
Do you have any parents for your Sara?
Despite what I just said, there is a gap in the John A. Bainbridge lineage which I have been unable to find, and it could have something to do with your Sara. There was a Theophilus Bainbridge , b. 11-16-1777, who married a girl named Sarah Young on 5-28-1808.I know that they had a boy named Peter Young Bainbridge, b. 10-10-1810. And I suspect that a fellow named John Young Bainbridge, born in 1812, was his brother. However, there could have been a girl born to them first, say in 1809, as your Sara was.I just don’t know. There is certainly time for Theophilus and Sarah to have a daughter born in 1809 after their marriage in May of 1808 and to have a son born in October of 1810.
My wife is directly related to Peter Y. Bainbridge.
I hope you can give me some more information about your Sara. And I will be happy to share with you all of the work I’ve done on the Bainbridges if you think it’s part of your family. You can contact me directly at [email protected].
Let me know,
Wayne
