Thanks so much for posting this will for us to view. I'm reading quite a few posts and I'm confused as to the James Bailey men to choose from, there seem to be quite a few. The James I am particularly interested in is James who died in 1826, (married to ?) living in the Laurens area, with the grandchildren Madison, Susannah, and James. I haven't actually seen a transcription of this will and the information is totally hearsay off a forum post. I am pretty sure that this Madison is really John M (Madison) Bailey b 1803/4 who married a Sarah ?. This John M. Bailey is also found near John Harris. I think that Susannah b 1795 may have married a Carver out of Rabun, GA area, the Carver family were neighbors to Wooten in 1830 Rabun census, though this connection is totally circumstantial. I'm interested in the Harris connections because I think that this Bailey family may connect to John Harris out of Abbeville,SC then Laurens. The James that married to Elizabeth Harris on the 23 Dec, 1805 (though I haven't seen this actual documentation) is which James Bailey? Because my ancestor, named William Couch b1790 was married in 1807 Spartanburg, SC to Mary Harris b1790, whose father was supposedly John Harris, I figured these two women may be connected. They lived in 1810 Laurens, SC. But I was expecting this James to be the brother or son of William Bailey who was supposedly mentioned in the James Bailey will of 1826, b1760, brother to Allen. I wasn't expecting this James who married Elizabeth Harris to be the son of Allen Bailey b1768/9. I saw by the transcription of Allen Bailey's will that John Harris was mentioned. The James Bailey most probable to have married in 1805 is the one found on pg 25, 1820 Laurens, SC, his children fit into the under 15 groups and this James lives near John L. Harris who was living next door to my Mary Harris Couch in 1810 Laurens. I think this John L Harris is a brother to Mary Harris Couch and Elizabeth Harris Bailey. Do you happen to have any ideas about these James Bailey groups and whether there are any documents that may clear up which James is which? I've enjoyed reading many of your posts and hope you can help me. Thanks, Cynthia
