Hi Sharon, I know we have exchanged a few emails about Nathan Johnson but I was talking with my cousin Maggie McClintock last night and she told me to look in my copy of the 1998 McAleer book on page 19 and I found an entry of my GG Grandfather Thomas Johnson, b. May 18, 1824, Chaddick Sound to Nathan and Catherine Johnson and it shows Thomas has a second marriage to Elizabeth Albury Malone before 1869 in Hope Town and they had 3 children: Emma, Otis and Isadora Johnson. I knew my GG Grandmother Charlotte Bethel Johnson had a second marriage to Edward Russell about 1854 so I thought Thomas had died but it looks like they divorced? I thought you could not do that back in the 1850s? Charlotte and Edward moved to Key West in 1873 and had 9 more kids.
Do you know if they could get divorced back then and do you have any idea where one could find a divorce record in Bahamas. Have you ever heard of these good folks I've listed above.
Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.
Ted E. Johnson, Jr.
