Good Day. Samuel Gibson. I read your response to the person seeking info on her grandmother's father's name. That was a big help for her. I was wondering whether you could help me out. I am an attorney in South Florida who grew up in a Bahamian culture in South Florida. My family came to the US for jobs and educations. They were busy seeing to it that everyone did their part to help the family move forward. They held tight on to the fact that they are Bahamains however we lacked information about anyone beyond who was present at the time. My greatgrand father came to the US in 1907 on a ship at about 18 or 19 years old. His name was Richard Alfred Gibson and he came into Key West from Eleuthera Bahamas. On the manifest he wrote that his mother was Analouise Gibson. He married Maggie Grant (also from the Bahamas - they say Eleuthera - I am not sure). When we were small, he had already died because he passed away young from heart problems 1931. However, the 1930 census verifies that he was still alive at that time. He and my great grand mother had several children. We lived with my great grand mother who was nuturing but did not say much about where we were from. She pushed the family forward. We really need to know about Richard Alfred Gibson. Is birth seems to be about 1888 or so. However, we need to know more about his mother, Analouise, his father and other family members. Do you know of anything having to do with this gentleman? Please let me know if you have anything. Much thanks.
