Cartwright,Carroll,Knowles--Long Island

I have been trying to get information on the Cartwrights, Carrolls and Knowles on Long Island, Bahamas. Can anyone give me a contact person who would be able to tell me about the earliest settlers of Long
Island. We believe the Cartwrights arrived shortly before 1829. Who settled Cartwrights on Long Island? Where can I view church records tosee if births, marriages, deaths are recorded? Anything I can get on
Deadman's Cay or Hamilton's District would be greatly appreciated too.The Knowles family we are researching have Maxwell Knowles, George Maxwell Knowles who married Jessima McNeil and were parents to Ella Anne Knowles and
Mary Anne Knowles. The original Knowles was supposed to have been of high rank in the
British Navy. Could they have been loyalists? So many questions. Please
send any assistance. Thank you.
