William, just spotted your message of several years back and hope you are still online! Does your Smith family have a William Augustus (or perhaps its Augustus William) Smith of Nassau? He was the father of my ggrandmother Caroline Ann Smith, and was married to one Ann Elizabeth Bishop (previously he had been married to her twin sister). Wm Augustus apparently died prior to 1870 as Ann Elizabeth was residing in the US by the 1870 census. Caroline Ann Smith married my sailor ggrandfather Henry Swan in Nassau in 1863 when he was loading supplies to run the blockade into the Confederate ports of the south.
