Jeremy, I am your mom's cousin. My dad was your grandmother's brother.I would like to get in touch with you so e-mail me at [email protected] and we'll take if from there. Here is what I had posted on this site in 2001.My Great-grandfather, Michael Bagnell came from Ireland to escape from the (spelling?) Finnean Revolution in the 1880's. My Grandfater, James Sylvester Bagnell, was born on January 13, 18?? either on the ship, or just after arriving in the US. He died in the 1950's in Dwight, Illinois. My father James Nicholas Bagnell, Sr. is a little fuzzy on some of the details. He thinks Michael was lucky to get out of Ireland alive. I know that James S. Bagnell settled in Dwight, Illinois. He married Helen Lauermann of Wilmette, Illinois. There are three children who lived to adulthood. James (my father), David and Gretchen. David lived in Normal, Illinois. Some of his children's names that I remember are: PeeWee (f) Woody (m) and Mort (m). I know there were more. I think another James? From Gretchen's family (Moyemont's) I remember Colleen, Cathy, Mary, John... and that's all I can remember. My father was born on March 22, 1912 in Dwight, Illinois,(died 03/17/2003 in Garden City, Kansas). He married Muriel Francis Bogren on October 17, 1946. He is still living in Canon City, Colorado. My mother was born on April 22, 1921, died on March 14, 2001 in Canon City, Colorado. In our family, there are seven children: James Nicholas, Jr, b: 09/25/1947 d: 07/17/1968 in Goodland, Kansas; Stephen Anthony b: 12/17/1948 still living; Linda Florence (now Caitlin Taylor) b: 12/07/1949 still living; Bruce Thomas b: 05/25/1951 still living; David Paul b: 10/16/1953 still living; JoAnn Helen (now Jolen Loriel Uhura-Wilds) b: 08/27/1955 still living; Casey Donald b: 06/01/1960 d: 08/09/1998 in Canon City, Colorado.
I am trying to research and do a family tree, and to see if there are any family decendents still in Ireland. My dad said he would like to know that.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Jolen
