Is there a Bagnall around who thinks they may be related to the following individual, Dick Timmins? His mother was a Bagnall...
My name is David Pringle, but I'm researching my mother's side of the family and my mother was a Timmins before she married a Pringle. I have discovered that we have someone who appears to have been a very black sheep indeed, on the Timmins side. He was my mother's "Uncle Dick," and his full name was:
Richard Thomas Timmins (born 1876, died 1960).
I don't know if the above dates are exact, but they're near enough. He lived, probably, in Brierley Hill, west of Birmingham (England), but he had some sort of military career, so may have moved around. He was the son of Thomas Timmins and Ellen (Bagnall) Timmins, probably of Brierley Hill.
One of the remarkable things about this Richard Thomas Timmins, or "Uncle Dick," is that he appears to have had at least 22 children, mostly by a woman he married called Lilly someone-or-other (her dates were approx. 1880-1972), but possibly some of them illegitimate. I have the first names of 19 of them -- Jean, Lena, Joseph, Richard, Annie, Lilly, Ellen, William, Alice, Nellie, Maud & Violet (twins), Lucy & Gertrude (twins), Elizabeth, George, Frank, Beatrice and Mary.
By all accounts Uncle Dick Timmins was feckless, a drinker, a gambler, and a womanizer... but he's an ancestor of mine and I'd like to find out more about him.
Is anyone related to him and his vast brood of offspring?
