I don't know anything much about Harmon except that he was born ca 1758 & married Mary Brogdon. My ancestress was Milley Bagley who married Rodam Griggs in Warren County, N.C. on 2 July 1784. Both Harmon & Milley married pretty early on.

I do know that William & Dianna had a daughter named Sarah who was born in 1751 in Va. before they migrated to Northampton County, N.C.

None of the genealogies I've seen have listed Sarah or Milley or Wm.'s second wife Mildred. Exactly when Dianna died I have no clue nor when he married Mildred either.

Most genealogies have his son Wm. as being born in ca 1768 but I know that is wrong because Milley was born in 1768 & she died in Ga. on Oct. 9, 1855. I believe her birth name to be Mildred, her being named after her mother but she always went by Milly.

Milly & Rhodum named a son Nathaniel. Their son, Wiley, I discovered through estate records had name a daughter Mildred-it is the only record which lists her as such-all other records it is Milley. So that tells me alot, him naming her after his mother & Bagley grandmother.

William didn't have a will. He died intestate. His estate records are dated 1806 to 1807. His wife Mildred was alloted a year's potion from his estate. Why he didn't provide more for his widow? Most wives were given 1/3 potion and the remainder went to the children. I was told by an older researcher that Nathaniel ended up with most of the estate but sold it off to John Hazard because he was in debt to him. John Hazard was the admr. of Wm. Bagley & Nathaniel's estate. The older researcher I corresponded with thought Mildred may have remarried.

I've been researching William's line back to Va. William's father was Peter Bagley. Peter's father was John Bagley whom I have written about below, questioning who his father was.

Most genealogies show John's father as Peter Bagley, Jr. but I'm not sure that is right. There were several Peter Bagley's in this line so it gets confusing.

Gen. I: Peter Bagley arrived at the Isle of Wight from England in 1635, imported by Richard Bennett. He died and left Wilkin alone with several children.

There is one record of Wilkin naming only a few of her children but there were others not mention in that record.

Another record shows after John Lidford died that Hugh Bagley was the brother of Peter & they were to convey to them the escheated land, which consisted of 275 acres in Surry County that had been their father's. Their mother Wilkin had married John Litford/Liford & he taken possession of everything.

There was a Peter Bagley, Sr. who died in 1684 in Surry & I've seen it sd. that Hugh was admr. of Peter's Estate. This leads me to think this is his brother.

Most genealogies I've seen have John Bagley as son of Peter Bagley, Jr. but I'm not sure this is correct. I don't have Peter Bagley, Jr. will but from what I've seen listed on his will this Peter names only son George & daughter Sarah Tucker in his will. Peter does mention his cousin John Bagley & Peter gives him the 70 acres that is already living on.

So with that in mind who was John's father?

It is just one more reason I wanted Kaaren's book.
