WPA BIBLE CEMETERY AND BIBLE RECORDS Cheatham County, Tennessee Heading: Henry Baggett Family Bible Bible: Then in the possession of Mrs. Jenny Baggett Lipscomb of Thomasville, Cheatham County, TN, Dist. #4, sixteen miles from Ashland City. Narrative: H.W. Baggett was born 12 Nov 1853 in Montgomery County, TN. Married Virginia Stack of Cheatham County, TN in 1878. Seventeen children were born of this union; fourteen still living at writing (1938). One son, Samuel Baggett, died while serving as Sheriff of Cheatham County. Another son, Dr. John F. Baggett, is currently (1938) Presiding Elder of the Nashville District of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The family were all members of the Methodist Church and Democrats. There were 120 direct descendants of the couple in 1938. Births H.W. Baggett 12 Nov 1853 Deaths Twins - born dead 22 Apr 1898 Marriages Irving McGhee and Sallie Baggett Researchers Note: It would appear that the marriages are not contemporary entries in the Bible as they are entered out of chronological order, in at least one instance the year is incorrect (Comer Baggett and Sallie Elliott were married in 1913), and the specific dates are missing in all but Jennie Baggett's entry. It is likely that she hurriedly brought the Bible up to date from memory before it was to be copied. Myrtle Frey and Myrtle Baggett are the same indiviual; she married her brother-in-law after the death of her first husband. Full names provided by Edward Carter.
